About IABMS

IABMS is the acronym for Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists (IABMS). This is a unique forum that provides a common platform for association of scientists belonging to various streams of medicine, paramedical courses and branches related to biomedical research. Presently there are more than 500 life members of the Association from India and abroad. The head office of the Association is located at Dr. ALM Postgraduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Taramani, Chennai. It has five active state level chapters with their secretariats located at Pondicherry, Kolkata, New Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram and Bangalore. IABMS regularly organizes various workshops, CME, symposia and seminars in addition to the Annual Conference of the Association. Association provides an opportunity for growth of scientific knowledge and its application. It confers titles of Fellowship and Membership on well recognized and reputed scientists. History of IABMS

 Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists was formed on 9^th of January, 1980 with the following objectives:

1. To encourage, promote and advance interdisciplinary co-operation amongst biomedical scientists belonging to

     different disciplines for the growth of  teaching, research and promotion of knowledge of all branches of

     science with special reference to its application in the field of biology and medicine.

2. To disseminate knowledge in the fields as stated above

3. To stimulate and aid research and development in all aspects of biomedical literature

4. To help in the improvement of standards of education etc.

 In the pursuit of the above-mentioned objectives, the Association had decided to take up and pursue following activities:

1.      Publication of an official journal

2.      Set up advisory bodies.

3.      Organize symposia, conferences, lectures, study programme etc.

4.      Maintain contacts with other learned and professional organizations.

5.      Purchase, take on lease or otherwise acquire, hold, manage, let, sell, exchange, mortgage properties of the

       Association.

6.      Borrow or raise money in such manner as the Association may think fit and collect subscription and donations

       for the purpose of the Association.

7.      Invest money of the Association in such manner as may from time to time be determined by the Association.

8.      To undertake such other activities which are cognate to the objects of the Association or conducive to the

       attainment of the above objectives.
